Information to Make Your Ayurvedic and
Massage Experiences More Satisfying
Below are some topics you may be wondering about. Click on the line and you will be taken to the appropriate paragraph.
Office Hours and Scheduling
The Ayurveda Center therapists set their own hours.
The administrative assistant, Martha Knowles, is available to help you with
information or scheduling from 10-12, 1-5, Monday through Friday. Often we
are here before, during and after those times; however, we may be with someone,
so call to make sure someone will be available to help you if you plan to
drop in. We encourage you to stop by and tour the Center.
We recommend you schedule your appointment in advance, especially around holidays
and special events, e.g. Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s
Day. We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance for preferred time
slots, such as weekend or early evening appointments and for the services
which require the coordination of two therapists’ schedules (Abhyanga,
Triple Bliss, Pancha Karma, etc.). Same day appointments are based upon availability.
If you need to return to your office or have an engagement after your service,
please advise the staff so that you can leave the Center on time.
In Preparation for Your Visit:
What to Wear and When to Eat
For most treatments, you will be disrobing. It is often
best to remove your jewelry, as well. Our therapists are sensitive to privacy
issues. You will be directed what to do and will always be appropriately covered
for body treatments. For Ayurvedic, Hot Stone, and Swedish services, often
the therapists will use massage oil. We strive to remove much of the oil prior
to the end of the massage; however, you may want to wear easy to launder clothing
(e.g., cotton), just in case. Shower facilities are also available; let us
know if you will want a shower. Last, please refrain from wearing perfumes
and fragrances. Some of the staff and clientele may be sensitive to them.
Thank you.
It is recommended that you wait at least an hour after a small meal and two
hours after a large meal prior to receiving massage. This is so you will not
be in the midst of digestion; nor will you be starving.
Arrival
Please arrive a little early before your scheduled
appointment. For your first visit, there will be paper work to complete: a
brief health history, some questions about what you want from your massage,
etc. Relax and enjoy a cup of relaxing tea--complementary. We make every effort
to begin on time. If you are late, you are losing YOUR time.
Your Health
Our therapists want you to have the most beneficial
and comfortable massage, including the appropriate pressure. For this we need
good information prior to the massage and also good communication during the
massage. Be open about your personal condition(s) so that the therapist can
help you plan accordingly. High blood pressure, heart problems, varicose veins,
pregnancy, and other conditions may make some of the treatments contraindicated.
If there is any question, we may request that you receive permission from
your physician to receive massage. Disclosure of any medical condition is
paramount to your comfort and full enjoyment of your massage experience. And
please do not be afraid to speak up if you experience any discomfort or would
like a different pressure or focus during the massage or treatments.
Our therapists are licensed professionals and therefore committed to upholding
ethical, professional and legal standards. Your health care information is
private here. Feel free to request a copy of our Policies and Practices to
Protect the Privacy of your Health Information document.
Cancellation Policy for
Ayurvedic Services
We ask that you give a 24-hour notice prior to canceling any service. Any non-emergency cancellation may result in a late cancel ($25) or no show fee ($50). However, we require a 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule single Ayurvedic services (e.g., abhyanga, facial) and a 48-hour notice for the Triple Bliss or Pancha Karma series of Ayurvedic services. Failure to cancel or show for an appointment will result in a 50% charge for the allotted time for Ayurvedic services. You may be asked to leave a credit card number for your deposit. The reason we do this is that there is more time marked off the books for these treatments, and we need to keep our therapists scheduled efficiently. In addition, there is a great deal of set up and clean up for these services—even if they do not occur. We often need to set up the day before the service is scheduled.
For women: The Ayurvedic treatments
should not be done during menstruation. Please do your best to schedule accordingly.
Payment
The Ayurveda Center therapists prefer cash or personal check. The check will
be made to the Ayurveda Center for Ayurvedic services; the check will be made
to your individual massage therapists for massage services. Your therapist
will let you know to whom to make the check. We also accept Visa and MasterCard
credit cards. These will show on your statement as Ayurveda Center charges.
Gratuities
This is a health care facility. Gratuities are not
expected. However, if you are so moved to reward your therapists, they do
accept tips.
Gift Certificates
When you buy a gift certificate you may specify a dollar
amount and let the recipient choose the therapist and/or the specific services
he or she wants. Or you may specify these yourself. We usually date our purchased
gift certificates for six months out in order to encourage the recipient to
use them before they forget. Gift Certificates may be redeemed twelve months
from date of issue. Gift certificates are non refundable.
Referrals
If you benefit from your experience at the Center,
we would appreciate your referrals. Also, we like working with the medical
community, so let your physician or health care specialist know about us.
Please feel free to call (865/482-0981) for further information.
